As new forms of mobility and displacement in the 21st century place demands on global instituitions and challenge approaches forged in a different age, efforts to redefine frameworks for managing contemporary migration are critical. Responding effectively to the large-scale movement of peoples has become one of the greatest challenges of our time. UNDP has compiled this study, Scaling Fences: Voices of Irregular African Migrants to Europe, to further our understanding of the relationship between migration and development, and to respond to gaps in the global evidence base.
