This Socio-economic Impact assessment has been drafted by the United Nations in Ethiopia in the spirit of ‘One UN’. It reflects our best collective assessment based on the available evidence and our knowledge and expertise, of the scale, nature and depth of socio-economic impacts in the country.
The assessment indicates the impact of COVID-19 on Ethiopia is serious and urges for policy response that puts people and their rights at the center, especially those most impacted and left behind. It calls on Ethiopia to avoid artificial and damaging demarcations, between response and recovery, and between humanitarian, health and socio-economic dimensions of the crisis.
The UNSDCF presents the key shared objectives of the United Nations system, the areas in which it intends to support the Government of Ethiopia and its people, and the expected outcomes of its cooperation.
UN Volunteers in Ethiopia provides support to the UN Country Team in Ethiopia in tehir delivery of development and humanitarian assistance in the country. It mobilizes motivated skilled national and internationals to support teh efforts of teh UN and the Government of Ethiopia in actualizing development priorities.
