The European Union and UNDP to enhance cross-border coordination and cooperation in the Horn of AfricaFeb 28, 2018
The European Union and United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) have launched a three-year project to address the drivers of conflict and instability, irregular migration and displacement in the cross-border areas of the Horn of Africa through improved cross-border coordination and cooperation.
The US$10 million project cooperation was signed in Addis Ababa by Mr. Erik Habers, Head of Cooperation in the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Ethiopia, and Lamin Momodou Manneh, Director of Regional Service Centre for Africa, UNDP, and seeks to put in place an integrated cross-border initiative to address drivers of conflict and instability between Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.
The project, Support for Effective Cooperation and Coordination of Cross Border Initiatives (SECCI), will focus on Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia .
The project will be implemented by UNDP in collaboration with UN Environment (UNEP), working in partnership with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
