National Consultation on Post MDG Development Agenda

Ethiopia kicked off its Post 2015 consultations in the northen city of Bahir Dar, where around 200 participants from four regional states and comprising members from the public, private and civil society gathered for two days to dialogue on their vision for the country's development agenda. The participants were drawn from the Afar, Amhara, Tigray and Benishangul Gumuz regions.

Ethiopia is one of the 24 African countries that have been selected to facilitate national consultations and a multi-stakeholder taskforce comprising the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) and the UN Country Team in Ethiopia, the chamber of commerce and civil socity groups to organise a series of seven consultations across the country on the post MDG development agenda.

Addressing the participants, which included State Minister Dr. Abraham Tekeste (MoFED) and the Amhara Regional President Mr. Ayalew Gobeze,UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Eugene Owusu noted  that "We are here today to put our heads and hearts together to start a dialogue process that would allow Ethiopia amplify its voice to the world on our common development agenda". State Minister Dr. Abraham Tekeste also urged participants to fully take advantage of the consultation opportunity.
