UNDP and the UN System
UNDP plays a significant co-ordination role for the UN’s activities in the field of development. This is mainly executed through the Resident Co-coordinator Office.
The Resident Coordinator who is also the Resident Representative of UNDP is the leader of the UN Country team, and as such plays a central role in making possible coordination of UN operational activities for development. As the agency for and manager of the Resident Coordinator system, UNDP believes strongly in making the UN in Ethiopia a more relevant, responsive and results-oriented organization, particularly through the Delivering as One initiative.
One of the areas UNDP provide supports to UNCT are; as a lead agency, overall management and coordination of the common services (implementation of common administrative functions amongst UN agencies such as travel, procurement, ICT).
