Enhanced Economic Growth
What is the project about
The Enhanced Economic Growth project focuses on supporting Ethiopia's Economic Growth Corridors (EGC), including the preparation of a national framework and strategy; detailed study of an EGC; strengthening the capacity of EGC insitutions at both federal and regional levels; and detailing investment and agro-industrial plan for the EGCs that would promote public-private partnerships.
What have we accomplished so far
The project is empowering local communities to take charge of their crop-cycle planning with the introduction of easy-to-use early warning systems that can predict the rainy season.
Now in its third year, the UNDP /GEF project in Ethiopia initially planned on reaching 41,000 inhabitants of the selected pilot areas in northern Ethiopia. However, the number of people benefiting has risen to 100,000 with neighboring communities– eager to learn from these new practices that will allow farmers to plan ahead in the face of an increasingly unpredictable climate.
Who Finances it?
