Ethiopia has made signifi cant strides towards becoming a middle income country by 2025. The country has achieved commendable development results over the past decade. The Ethiopian economy is undergoing rapid  transformation and has become the fastest growing non-oil exporting economy in the world, posting an average of 11% economic growth annually over the last eight years. In 2012, poverty levels declined to 29.6%, down from 38.7% in 2005.
